Our History

We started having Pyrenees only as a protection plan for the sheep.  It worked and we stopped loosing lambs to predators almost immediately.  It did not take long before our working dogs turned into our family dogs as well.  You cannot be around the Pyrenees without falling in love with the breed.  We realized we would never go without the dogs again, so we decided to start raising them.  Since then, we have placed hundreds of pups into every different type of home imaginable.

Owning a Great Pyrenees from Uptown Farms

The best part about buying a dog from a working family and environment is you know you are getting the best package for your money.  Here at Uptown Farms, our dogs’ main purpose is to protect our livestock investments.  This means we can only afford to have healthy, intelligent, loyal dogs running our farm.  A sick dog is not out in the field working, so we breed to have the absolute healthiest dogs possible.  Visitors come and go everyday, as well as the visitors dogs, which means our Pyrenees have to be able to distinguish between friend and foe on a daily basis.  Our dogs are not fenced in, leashed, or contained in any way.  We need dogs that are bred to bond instantly and cherish that bond above all else so they stay at home and do their job.

What does this mean for you?  This means by purchasing a dog from Uptown Farms you are guaranteed a dog that will come and protect you, your family, and your livestock at all costs.  It means you will have a dog that does not need expensive trips to the vets.  It means that you will have a dog that will bond instantly with your family, your farm, or your flock.  It means that you will be 100% satisfied with your puppy and new family member.

The greatest part about the Pyrenees is their inherent ability to distinguish the young and old.  Whether it is a baby lamb, a young child, or your elderly neighbor, the Pyrenees can sense when they need to be gentle and kind.  That same dog will be able to sense when they need to go into “guard mode” whether because a threat to your home or a threat to your stock.

Your puppy will come with:

ü  A Full Health Guarantee that lasts for the LIFETIME of the dog
§
Most breeders only offer a guarantee for 30 days

ü  A full Health Record
§
All pups will be up to date on shots, de-worming, and have a health inspection done
§
Our pups will not need to see a vet again until they reach 6 months for their rabies vaccination and spaying/neutering

ü  A Written Working Guarantee
§
Not every Pyrenees is created equal.  Purchasing a good stock dog is a significant investment and we believe you should not have to take a chance.  If your puppy does not do the job, you will receive a new pup that does.  (We have never had a working dog returned!!)
§
We are 100% unaware of any other breeder that guarantees their dogs to work!

Clare, right after a hair-cut and playing with a marking crayon.  We “shear” the Pyrenees once
every other year to help keep burs, dirt, and other stuff out of their coat.
The Pyrenees are a remarkably clean animal partly due to their “self-cleaning” coat and partly due to their clean personalities.

Roxi, a female we will never forget, was recently killed by an unknown driver in the middle of the night.
We assume she was after coyotes or another predator and crossing the road to continue the chase.
She is pictured above with her very first litter of five pups.
