Uptown Farms is located in the gently rolling hills of North Central Missouri. Matt and Kate Lambert, owners and managers, have been raising sheep for a combined 25 years plus. Matt is originally from Brookfield, and started off with Registered Hamps. Kate is originally from northern Illinois, and started her sheep project with her Dad, Jim Ireton, and Brother, Matt Ireton, with a registered flock of Suffolks. The flock originated as Ireton Suffolks.
Uptown Farms now focuses on raising and showing Nationally Competitive Hamps and Tunis Sheep. Matt also spends time fitting sheep for people around the Midwest, and Kate spends much time with the Great Pyrenees project you can see detailed on the Pyrenees pages.
The Lamberts were sad to offer the dispersal of their Suffolks earlier this spring, but glad to be able to focus more attention onto the Hamps and Tunis. Some of the more memorable Suffolks can still be found on the Success Page. A huge thanks goes to Eric Bruns from Ohio for giving “Big John” a wonderful home.
The Hamps have all originated from Matt’s original flock. The most successful ewes in the group have an abundance of Heggemeier genetics. The females are structurally sound, correct in breed type, and offer some of the most competitive line bred genetics available. The ewes have been accented with some top genetics from RiKow Hamps, Springdale Farms, and several other top breeders in the country.
The Tunis flock was purchase from Dan Kleman in 2007. Uptown Farms purchase the entire flock including 25 brood ewes, the stud rams, and 2007 lamb crop. With their first showing, Uptown Farms managed to bring home the banner for Champion Tunis Flock at the 2007 NAILE. Since that time, Uptown Farms has strived to continuously improve the Tunis making them a more sound, smooth sheep without loosing any of the efficiency and management ease the breed is so well known for.
